Brutal Honesty...

As the P's little minds become more inquiring and grow more curious, their inability to filter out whats okay and not okay to say in public has gone to a whole other level. Most of the time, those little one liners that they spew off are quite funny and give us a good laugh. However, they're now becoming more insulting and make us want to crawl into a hole and die.

Insults from a toddler :

Scene 1- Thomaston, GA visiting Craig's Great Aunt Doris and Uncle Ed.
* We're all sitting around the table having lunch. As we all begin to finish up, Unlce Ed burps a few times, loudly enough for Paisley to hear it. I see her look at him and look at me and giggle. No big deal, right? Then he burps one last time and she says " Ugh, excuuuuuuse you " " You didn't say excuse me" Good thing is, she has manners, bad thing is, she has manners. Thankfully, no one else heard her say it but me!

Scene 2- Dallas, GA Waffle House
* We're sitting at a booth just finishing up our breakfast. When Presleigh all of a sudden points and says
" Eww, look at that Mommy" "Eww" I tend to tune my kids out from time to time and this was one of those times. However, out of the corner of my eye, I could see a rather large man, maybe 350lbs or so walk by and take a seat to wait on his to go order. Appearantly, this is what all the " Eww'ing " was about. Could.Have.Died. I continued to ignore her and quickly, very quickly changed the subject and made it seem as if we were discussing something else and clearly not discussing him, just in case he could hear the insults coming from our table. Presleigh had to go to the bathroom, where I took the opportunity to explain to her that we do not talk about people, it is not nice and it is very hurtful. We make our way to the car, get them strapped in and I tell Craig about what just went down-his parenting take- " Presleigh, that's not nice and that's also why you cant eat corn pups everyday" Seriously?

Scene 3- Dallas, GA QuikTrip
* After picking the kids up from the gym on date night, we decided to stop by QuickTrip so they could pick out a little treat. I get Paisley out of the carset and carry her over to the sidewalk. At that time a man walks by to get in his car where she screams " That man has sharp teeth and he looks like Nanny McPhee!" Trying not to die in laughter, I quickly snatch her up and run into the store. In her defense, he was scary. Not sure if you've seen Nanny McPhee, but she's not the poster child for oral health. We're talking about a Paulding Co country bumpkin, who spends his better days dipping Skoal and from the looks of it chews cement ( Lord forgive me ) After I gain my composure, I explain to her that what she said was not nice and very hurtful and that we must not talk about others. Meanwhile, Presleigh and Craig are still laughing away.

Scene 4- Hiram, GA Target
*I decided to get a little crazy and tackle Target alone with the girls one weekend. They were actually behaving nicely and only asking for everything in the store. They were allowed to pick out one thing each, within reason and that was it. We survived the actual trip through the store, but all of you parents know the real fun starts when you're standing in line, surrounded by candy and chocolate, and little trinkets. As we're standing in a long line the girls begin to beg for candy and chocolate. I firmly say, " You've already picked out your 1 thing, if you want candy or chocolate, you're going to have to put that back " Annoyed by that response, Presleigh loudly says " Okay, your majesty!" I died of humiliation and everyone around me died in laughter. I'm sure it was funny, for them. I was more so concerned as to whether or not these people think I require that my little subjects call me this on a daily basis or if I really was so mean and cruel, I deserved the "your majesty" remark. I'm sure when their teenagers and calling me something less tasteful, I'll be wishing it was your majesty instead. Hindsight is always 20/20 right?

Critter Control....

This week we had another interesting encounter with a "foreign species" being in the house. This time however, the species didn't let himself in, he was brought in by none other than the P's. Story kind of begins the same way our bat experience did-I'm sitting at my desk working when Craig and the girls come in giggling away and saying " Mommmmmmyyyy, guess what we found?! " Part of me was scared to look, but being that Craig was there manning the the makeshift cage, I figured it was okay. I brace myself, take a peek, and there it was, a cute, furry, probably rabid chipmunk. I'll admit, it was pretty cute, but all I could think about was it going buck crazy, flying out of the cage and getting loose in the house somewhere. Once I remove those images from my head, I begin to question where this little critter came from. Craig tells me that while he was sitting in his office working, the girls came running in from outside and Paisley had the chipmunk in her hands.  "What!" " In her hands?" "How in the hell, did she catch a chipmunk with her bare hands?!" " Thank God she wasn't bitten!" "Paisley, go wash your hands now!" I'm then being told to calm down by a 4yr old who assures me "Ugh, its ooooookay, he's nice " Come to find out Romeo had caught the chipmunk to begin with and Paisley, taking after her Daddy decided she needed to save the chipmunks little life by freeing him from the wrath of Romeo's teeth. They then proceed to tell me that they took him on a little joy ride on the rocket swing, down the slide and in the wagon. I bet he had a blast! Poor guy, he'd probably wished the cat would have just ate him lunch! I explained to the girls that he we couldn't keep him and we needed to find a nice spot in the woods to set him free. Reluctantly, they let him go, but not before I could snap a quick pic.

T.G.I.T

Thank goodness for Thursdays! It's been a long week. Work's been busy, school's been busy, life's been, just busy-thus resulting in my blog neglect. I'm looking forward to the weekend and no schedule to adhere to, other than making sure Craig is in front of the tv by 730 Sunday night for the Falcons game.

I am excited to announce that I'll be running my first 5k on October 8th- The Make a Wish 5k of Cobb County! The race proceeds go to the local Cobb County chapter of the Make a Wish foundation and will make many dreams come true for terminally ill children. I'm nervous, excited, and anxious about it all at the same time. With a little tough love and tugging at the heart strings I was able to convince a couple lovely ladies to run with me, which eases the nerves a bit! I know that whether or not we get out run by the babies or baby boomers, finish dead last or not at all, we'll have a great time doing it and probably laugh all the way through it. Never a dull moment w/ these two! So Thank You, Jennie and Stacy,  for allowing me to manipulate you to participate in one of my crazy ideas.
In other exciting news,  my bestie Keri and her husband, Scott had their baby on Monday! This is the 3rd bambino for the Edwards clan, making them the new party of 5. They kept the baby's gender a surprise- a long, grueling, 9 ( technically 10 ) months. Being so far away makes it hard, especially times like these when I want to be there so badly! I couldn't possibly be more happy for these two and the wonderfully beautiful family they've created! So without further adieu, please meet their brand new baby girl, Stella Blake Edwards.

Speaking of baby girls, the P's have been running at full throttle all week. With cooler temps and cloudy skies, they've been hard at play in the yard. Playin' so hard there's been rings around the tub every night. You'd think that all the play would have the worn down and ready for bed at night, but that's not the case. These two have fought bedtime all week! Not to mention, at least one of them has been waking me up during the night, every night this week. I'm exhausted and hoping I can get a full nights rest tonight.

A Little Ballet & A Homecoming Parade...

Every Thursday Paisley has ballet and tap class at Dallas Dance. This Thursday was her 4th class. Today, I would be watching her intently to see if this was really worth my money. Every week she looks forward to class, however, once she's in there you'd never know it. She participates for 5 minutes and then she's rolling in the floor. Tapping for few minutes then spinning around. Just not really focused on what the teacher is doing and more so concerned with what she wants to do. I'd say she has a little bit of my stubbornness and Craig's ADD. Presleigh goes with me each week to watch her sister in class and keeps me updated with a play by play of Paisley's actions. Today Presleigh ran over to little bench that sits under the window, climbed up and watched her sisters every move. The play by play today was different than most days-Paisley was actually participating consistently and we were both shocked. We found ourselves laughing out loud and giggling together and I at one point I found myself getting emotional, teary eyed, and on the verge of crying. I don't know if it was because my baby girl could finally "make a pizza slice" with her baby feet or if it was that darn instrumental version Beauty and The Beast that got me all choked up. Whatever the case, I was definitely one proud Momma- maybe too proud :) Check out a couple pics below. Little dark due to the tinted glass that keeps her from knowing we're watching.

Making a "pizza slice" with her feet

Usually after we leave dance we run by the house, drop off Paisley and either Craig or myself will take Presleigh to gymnastics. However on our way home today we got stuck in some traffic in downtown Dallas-really? Traffic in Dallas? Come to find out today was the Homecoming Parade and everyone was starting to line the city streets and the roads were closing down. Presleigh LOVES a parade-not so sure if its the actual parade or all the candy they rack up on when one rolls through. So naturally today Presleigh decided that gymnastics was gonna take a back seat to the parade. I have to admit, I enjoy the parades too. I use to come to these same parades when I was in high school-so a little nostalgic I guess. We walked down to Mimi's house, popped some popcorn, and grabbed us a front row seat on a blanket in the front yard.

There's those eyes again!

This cracked me up- You can also find me doing this to Daddy on a regular basis. In all fairness to Craig, it was just the marching band that rattled their ears a bit.

What I'm Lovin' Wednesday....

Right off the bat, I'm lovin' this fall like weather and everything that comes along with it! Sweats, extra covers on the bed, windows up and the AC off, and morning coffee and family dinners on the screened in porch. I'm tying not to get too used to it as I know by weeks end, the heat will have returned, but I can't help to want to break out the leggings and new fall boots I purchased recently. The girls were equally excited to be sleeping in their footy pj's this week, even though they were little more snug and shorter in the length than they were this time last year. Pretty sure they ran through the house, sliding on the bottoms of their feet pretending to be "ice skating" for a good 30 minutes!

You'll see the What I'm Loving Wednesday topics appear often. I discovered this little topic while reading the post of another fellow blogger. Mostly when there's not a whole lot happening on the home front. This week I figured I'd fill you in on few things I'm lovin' lately:

Holding strong at #1-The return of Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks! I love love love this coffee and will most likely be savoring its greatness at least 1x a week. Thankfully, the closest Starbucks is over 5 miles away or else I'd be there far more often than that. I had a minor set back last week when I discovered on my weekly Starbucks run that they had discontinued the Coconut Mocha and Coconut flavoring.  Thanks to my sweet friend, Jennie for filling me in on its arrival yesterday and now, all is well in the world!

Numero Dos-would be the front runner on my weekly grocery store lists for a good month now-
Wholly Salsa. Wholly Amazing! Its most likely the best salsa I've ever tasted and even better its 100% Natural and Organic. Its Nutritional Information Facts are that of a health nuts dream. You can find it in the produce section and its the same price as your Tositos, Pace, blah blah blah,  run of mill salsas found on the shelf. I love it so much, its caused a couple food arguments in the house. I'm territorial over the foods I love and will watch every bite Craig takes and scold him if he starts to eat more than what I feel is acceptable.Could we buy more, yes. Is it the last tub of Wholly Salsa to ever grace Dallas,GA, No.Wrong, I know and I admit it, but if you take my last bit of Wholly Salsa, Craig Orrell-its war.

Number 3 and backing up to my coconut obsession, would be Silk's Coconut Milk. I'm not a milk fan, never have been. There's usually only 2 instances when I will drink milk- One with Oreo cookies and Two with brownies. Otherwise, not happening. Being that I'm 30 now, I should really start thinking about getting more calcium, the dangers of osteoporosis, and the fear of becoming a hunchback before 40. And I found the cure here- Silk Coconut Milk is gluten free, lactose free, and overall really healthy and has less than half the fat and sugar of regular milk.  It's been on sale lately at my local grocery store and not much more expensive than store brand milk and less expensive than Mayfield. I highly recommend it!

Last but not least and not another food topic are these sweet faces in the carpool line this morning! They LOVE carpool and school and its written in their smiles. If you haven't noticed in my other posts, this wide eyed, goofy grin is Presleigh's new "cheeseburger" special. Silly girl!

Football, Friends and Fun....

We're coming off of a great long weekend. It's been raining for about 24 straight hours now and I love every minute of it!  Perfect excuse to lay low in the house, get some much needed chores done and just be lazy.

Saturday was game day, the day that most of us college football fans have been waiting for all summer long! We headed down to the Georgia Dome to watch the UGA vs Boise St game. We were fortunate to score some great tix earlier in the week and had the opportunity to tailgate with some pretty incredible people that day. It was a smorgasbord of fun! There was BBQ and Beer Pong, Corn Hole and Corn on the Cob, Chocolate Milk and Apple Pie with our tailgaten' neighbors, minors crashing the tailgate and looking for " just one more game" and all the malarkey one could expect from a bunch of kids at heart. Although the game didn't end in the most favorable way, it was still an awesome time and worth all the hurt the next day. Can't wait until next time :)

The rest of the rainy weekend was spent having fun with the little ladies. We picked them up from Nana on Sunday and decided to make a Cold Stone Creamery stop along the way.  "Banilla" with M&M's for them and Birthday Cake Remix for me. Craig had Moe's next door.Which he kindly ate in front of us-the smell of Mexican and ice cream- not a good combo. We then decided to hit up red box and have our monthly family movie night. During our family movie nights we pop lots of popcorn, make a big ol' pallet in the floor with all the blankets and pillows in the house, get snuggled up in our pj's and watch a movie of the girls choosing. I have to say that these nights are some of my favorite nights. Rio was feature film and actually pretty cute, I'll give it 3 1/2 out of 5 stars.

Today was spent sleeping in, doing chores and spending some time with my family and two adorable little
"kitters" My brother has two7wk old kittens and we are jonesing for my Mom to get one. After all of us spending some QT w/ the cuties today, I'm thinking its a go. I'll update once the verdict is in! Here's a pic of their sweetness-see if you can spot the kitties smothered in the P's love.

I hate to see the weekend end, but on the flip side, its a 4 day work week and that makes it a little easier. Off to bed I go so Im well rested for the rat race tomorrow. Good night!
